2024 NAV-X Challenge #1 - Black Diamond Mines - 2 or 4 hour GPS Map Trek
The first event of the 2024 Nav-X season will take place at Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve, a park with a history of coal and sand mining as well as ranching. The map is a combination of LIDAR basemap with some improvements and some orienteering level detail (courtesy of Get Lost!), offering a fun challenge as you travel between the areas. Vegetation includes grassland, woodland, chaparral and some exotic species introduced by the coal miners. The park is located on Somersville Road about 3 miles south of Highway 4 near Antioch, CA. This event will use the app "MapRun" for timing on your own schedule. The competitive window for this event is March 1- April 30. Results during this time period will be included in the official results and accrue Nav-X Challenge series points but the course will still be available on MapRun until 2025 Jan 1, after which it will move to the archived courses. Upon registration, you will receive (1) registration confirmation, (2) within 24 hours, a separate email with links to map documents.
