Please join us for "Buzzard-O," a super-fun urban orienteering experience on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver! Please share this link with your friends, family, heck, even your co-workers! :-)

The basics:
- Please arrive, pre-registered online, by 10:00.
- I will hand out maps and give a briefing at 10:20. - There will be a "mass start," everyone starts at the same time, 10:30am.
- This is a "Score-O" event, a bit like a scavenger hunt. The objective is to verify having found as many controls as possible in any order in a strictly limited amount of time (tba).
- Verification occurs by using the hand punch at each control to make a unique punch pattern in the correct box on your control card (on map or on a separate sheet of paper).
- Controls will have different point values (1, 2, or 3 points, the first digit of each control number), depending upon their relative distance and difficulty. There will be between 25 and 30 controls. A test solution suggested just under 4km gross distance, so a fast and flawless runner could likely sweep it in 25 minutes or less.
- Having said all of that, you of course don't have to run if you don't want to, and you don't even have to punch (unless you want to be scored). Feel free to casually walk the map if you wish. The course closes at 12:30 (I'll begin collecting controls by then).

Limited scoring/timing may be offered; if so, I'll be manually recording times and punching data into a spreadsheet to calculate scores, so there will be a kind of 'quiet' period of 20-30mins after the race for me to get this done. I may establish age and maybe sex-based classes and a teams class depending upon the registrant profile.

Online registration is required.

Yes, really, it's required. There will be no-day of registration at all and no changes after registration closes.

Every individual (each child, team member, etc.) must have their own separate registration including a properly signed waiver.

If you/your team members are unable to properly complete a correct registration online for yourself and each of your family members, please make other plans for your group/family for the day, as you will be turned away. There will be no extra maps available.
"FREE" means I get to have fun, too, and messing around with late and day-of registrations is not particularly fun.

Thank you for understanding.

Individuals: Select, "No team - Individual" as your "team name."

You're welcome to participate in teams. To do so, each team member must enter the Team Name when prompted during online registration. Teams must present all together at check-in, stay together the entire time on the course, and must finish together (do not report in as finished until your team is all together at the finish). Sorry, there will be no formation of recorded teams, editing of team membership, or editing of team names once Regular online registration closes. Select "Individual - Not Participating as a Team" as appropriate. Each Team gets one map to share.

You're welcome to use a compass if you have one. There will be no loaner compasses, and no instruction. Don't worry, though, you'll find it pretty easy to orient yourself. Just come out and have fun.

Early registration - FREE!,
Regular registration FREE!!,
Late Registration - None. Nope. Sorry!!!
Rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, the event may be canceled at the Registrar's discretion. Check your email/spam folders.

BYO water, snacks. We'll have use of the nearby field house restroom building.

PARKING/ACCESS: There is no free parking on campus (anywhere, anytime), but there should be plenty of $2/hr metered parking nearby, limited free street parking downtown (N of Speer), and meet HQ will be abt 600m from the Ball Area Light Rail Stn and about 700m from the Colfax at Auraria Stn. There's no embargo for this event, but try not to peek on your way in! :-)

HQ: Just off the N corner of the Tivoli Building.

I hope you'll be able to attend!

Please contact me with any questions or concerns. conavgames a.t gmail dot com

Thank you.
