The Sierra Nevada mountains of California are world famous for their beauty and wildness. However, almost all of the upper elevations is federally designated Wilderness and therefore forbidden for organized group events or races. 100 Lakes is one of the rare regions around 7000 feet where we are allowed to race (low impact style) and we are excited to bring you the 2021 NAV-X Challenge #6 at this beautiful venue! The race area has mostly low/moderate undergrowth and steepness, by California standards, and there are close to a hundred small lakes in the basin. The West part of the mapped area has some reddish rock areas, more broken up, while the rest is typical Sierra granite slabs scattered throughout. There are a few trails, though much of the advanced control points will require long stretches of cross country travel. Due to the few access points to the area, we will have a remote start/finish. This event will use the app MapRun6 for timing on your own schedule. Upon registration, you will receive (1) registration confirmation, (2) within 24 hours, a separate email with links to map documents.
