Please share a link to this event with friends, family, even co-workers – everyone is welcome!! Please register for Colorado Navigation Games’ All-levels Skills Development Event to be held at Homestead Ranch Regional Park near Peyton, CO. This is a self-guided event, and I'll be on hand to assist and answer any questions you may have. HRRP is a special place and is very well-suited for both advanced and begintermediate orienteering! The terrain is quite steep in places, and there are large and small landforms to work with, but there is also a nice trail system and plenty of level areas. Select from either the Begintermediate or Advanced tracks, each with a specially-designed combination of practice routes* on one map followed by a skills-appropriate standard course map. Controls will be shared between and within tracks. Starts open at 8am, last start at 11am, courses close at 1pm. Rain or shine. I've rented the smaller pavilion #2 for our use. *Practice Routes, by the current plan, will include things like: Map only: orient by reference to features (no compass) Compass and pace: find controls using compass and pace counting only. I’m planning to accommodate a request for a super-long adv leg. Line-O: Controls will be found along, but not mapped on, zig-zagging line (you must stay on the line to find the controls) Corridor-O: Map completely whited-out but for a corridor of detail (probably 30m wide for Begint, 15m for Adv) Fog/Window-O: selected areas of the map will be whited-out The two tracks are called “races” in EventReg, but there will be no actual races and no timing, scoring, etc. This event is just about fun, learning, and practice. **You must select the appropriate “package” for the fee to be calculated correctly.*** Please ensure a separate registration (waiver and payment) has been completed for every single person in your group, regardless of age, relationship, etc. $15 early Reg ends at 11pm on 26May. $20 Regular reg ends at 11pm on 15Jun. Late Reg $25. Online Reg will close at 6am on 17Jun (day-of). 12yo and younger accompanied by a fully registered and paid parent or legal guardian are free. Some fine print: This event is limited to 30 participants under our permit, so please register early and plan to arrive early. I’ll happily issue full refunds requested by email no later than noon on Wednesday, 15Jun but, after that point, all registrations will be final. If the participant count viewable on EventReg (https://eventreg.orienteeringusa.org/eventregister/a40/reglist/home/17junhrsd ) is close to 30 and you arrive on the day-of without having registered online, please have a plan for an alternate activity that day because I may not be able to accommodate you. Sorry.
